What is the 'Back Vocals' Feature?

When you create an AI cover on OG Voice, you have a powerful option: "Add Back Vocals".

This feature uses a specialized source separation algorithm to identify the main vocal and the backing harmonies separately. It then applies the AI voice conversion only to the main vocal, while preserving the original backing vocals exactly as they are.

When to Turn it ON (Maintain Original Harmonies)

1. Complex Vocal Arrangements

If a song has intricate three or four-part harmonies (think Queen or Pentatonix), converting every single voice might lead to a muddy sound. Keeping the original harmonies provides a solid "foundation" while your AI voice takes the lead.

2. Preserving the Original Group's Vibe

Sometimes you want the lead singer to change, but you still want the signature backup vocals of the original band.

3. Stability at High Notes

If the backing vocals hit very high or fast notes that are difficult for raw AI conversion, keeping them original will maintain the track's professional stability.

When to Turn it OFF (Full AI Takeover)

1. Single Vocal Track

If the source song has only a single vocal line with no harmonies, this feature is unnecessary.

2. Creating a 100% Brand New Sound

If you want the entire vocal stack to sound like the new voice, keep this off. The AI will attempt to convert even the "Oohs" and "Aahs" in the background.

3. Solo Piano or Acoustic Ballads

In simple arrangements where there are few vocal layers, the separation might not be perfect. It's often safer to convert everything.

Pro Mixing Tip

Try both! The "Add Back Vocals" feature is a powerful tool in your production arsenal.

Summary: If the song sounds better with the original background singers but the new lead voice, keep it ON. If you want a complete reimagining of the track, keep it OFF.
